Alaska’s 1st Honorary Consulate General of the Philippines

by Cathy 7. March 2011 14:32

The Philippine Consulate General will recommend Juneau resident Ms. Jenny Gomez-Strickler for appointment as the first Honorary Consul General in the State of Alaska. Representative Muñoz, along with Representative Kerttula and Senator Egan, urged Consul General Marciano Paynor to appoint Ms.Strickler to the position.

In a response to a delegation letter, Consul General Paynor stated, "I will recommend the appointment of Ms. Gomez-Strickler, a Filipino Community leader in Juneau. I have personally met Ms. Strickler and she has proven that she has the capacity to promote stronger ties between the Philippines and Alaska."

Consular services will include legal documentation, passports, registration of births/marriages, dual citizenship and visas. This is exciting news, not only for the Community of Juneau, but for the State of Alaska.
