Governor Parnell released the proposed FY2012 operating and capital budgets on December 15, totaling $11.1 billion with $5.45 billion in state general funds, which emphasize job creation and resource development. $103 million is included to leverage more than $705 million in federal and other funds for transportation, highways, aviation, and water & sewer projects. Funds for resource development include $60 million for roads and ports to increase access to natural resources, $160 million for the Alaska Pipeline Project and $5.5 million for development of the in-state gasline project.
Other key statewide budget items include $7.4 million for domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, $8.2 million for the Alaska Performance Scholarship, full funding for K-12 education, $26.5 million to Alaska Housing Finance Corporation for the weatherization program, and $16 million for tourism marking.

We are working closely with Sen. Egan and Rep. Kerttula to insure that progress continues on a new state office building and the State Library, Archives and Museum project.
This is a starting point in the budget process. In January the Governor will release the supplemental budget and the House and Senate Finance Committees will then begin their respective subcommittee work.
