Rep. Cathy Munoz Welcomes Philippine Consul General

Representative Cathy Muñoz welcomes Philippine Consul General Maricano Paynor, Jr. The Consul General will be available to assist constituents with legal documentation, passports, registration of births and marriages, dual citizenship and visas.

Consul General Paynor brings a high level of experience with a vast background in multiple positions in the Department of Foreign Affairs. He entered the Diplomatic Service in Washington DC; Libreville, Gabon; Budapest, Hungary; and Rome, Italy. From 2000 – 2002 he was assigned as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Philippine Embassy. More recently he returned to the Philippines for a home assignment as Chief of Presidential Protocol, Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs, and Presidential Assistant for State and Foreign Visits. Consul General Paynor took his current position located in San Francisco, CA in August 2007.

Consul General Paynor and his staff will provide consular services on Friday and Saturday, May 21 - 22 from 8am - 5pm at the Filipino Community Hall in downtown Juneau. The Consul General and the Juneau Filipino Community, Inc. will hold a dinner and celebration on May 21, 6 pm at the Filipino Community Hall. The Consul General will be swearing in those seeking dual citizenship, and a presentation by the Juneau Delegation, City Assembly, and the Alitaptap Philippine Folkloric Group will take place.
